Frequently asked questions
What is the right age for Class 1 admission?
Under the National Education Policy 2020, a child should be 6 years or older to join Class 1. Most states and KVS have moved to 6+, but check the exact rule of your state or school system with this calculator.
Does every school have a different admission age?
No. Schools follow the age rule set by their state education department or their school system (for example KVS or the Delhi Directorate of Education). Some private schools publish their own window within that rule, so also read the school's admission notice.
On which date is the child's age counted?
On the reference date in the admission notice, usually 31 March of the admission year. The calculator shows the date of birth window for each class so you can see the exact range.
Can the age limit be relaxed?
Some systems allow relaxation, for example for children with disabilities in KVS, or a short relaxation at the school head's discretion in Delhi. The calculator lists the relaxation stated in the official notice.
