What is RRB (Railway Recruitment Board)?

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are the official recruitment agencies of Indian Railways. There are 21 RRBs spread across the country, each responsible for recruiting candidates for railway jobs in its respective region. The RRBs function under the Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB) and ultimately under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. How are marks normalised in RRB CBT exams?

When the same CBT is held in multiple shifts, marks are normalised using the percentile-based method. This accounts for variation in difficulty across shifts and ensures all candidates are compared on an equal basis. The normalised score (not the raw score) is used for merit ranking.

Can I apply to multiple RRBs?

Candidates can apply to only one RRB per recruitment notification. If you apply to more than one RRB for the same notification, your candidature will be cancelled. You should choose the RRB closest to your preferred posting location.

Is there an age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates in RRB exams?

Yes. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years relaxation; SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation; PwBD candidates get 10 years relaxation (cumulative with category relaxation where applicable). Ex-servicemen and other categories also have defined relaxations as per railway recruitment rules.

What is the difference between RRB NTPC and RRB Group D?
