The Graduate Aptitude Test - Biotechnology (GAT-B) and Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) are national-level entrance examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. GAT-B is held for admission to DBT-supported postgraduate programmes – such as M.Sc., M.Tech. and M.V.Sc. in biotechnology and allied areas – at participating institutions across India, while BET is the qualifying test for the DBT Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF). Both exams are conducted in online (computer-based) mode, usually once a year. They assess candidates on biotechnology and related life-science fundamentals.
