About CSIR NET

CSIR NET is a national-level test conducted by the NTA for the CSIR to determine eligibility for the Junior Research Fellowship and the post of Assistant Professor in science subjects. It is a major qualifying exam for science researchers and academicians.

What is CSIR NET?

• National eligibility test in science subjects.
• Conducted by the NTA on behalf of the CSIR.
• For JRF and Assistant Professor eligibility and Ph.D. admission.
• Held in online (computer-based) mode, generally twice a year.

CSIR NET Exam Pattern

• Single paper divided into Part A (general aptitude), Part B and Part C (subject-specific).
• Five subject streams in science.
• Refer to the official notification for exact marks, question count and duration.

CSIR NET Eligibility

• Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science subject with the required minimum marks.
• Relaxation in marks for reserved categories as per rules.
• Age limit for JRF as per the official notification (relaxation for Assistant Professor).

CSIR NET Selection Process

• Appear for the CSIR NET examination in your chosen subject.
• Qualify the cut-off as per category and subject.
• Qualified candidates become eligible for JRF and/or Assistant Professor based on their score.

2. Register to generate login credentials.
3. Fill the online application form.
4. Upload photograph, signature and required documents.
5. Pay the application fee online.
6. Submit and print the confirmation page.

How to Prepare for CSIR NET

• Build strong fundamentals in your science subject.
• Practise general aptitude (Part A) regularly.
• Solve previous years' papers and mock tests.
• Revise consistently and manage time well.
