The Air Force Common Admission Test, known as AFCAT, is the national-level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Air Force for selection of officers into the Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. It is a gateway for short service commission and, for the Flying branch, permanent commission, in the Indian Air Force. Held twice a year in online (computer-based) mode, AFCAT tests candidates on general awareness, verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning and military aptitude. Eligible candidates are graduates meeting the branch-specific qualification and age criteria. Selected candidates proceed to the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) testing. This page covers complete AFCAT details – eligibility, exam pattern, important dates, application process and preparation tips.
