STEP 1 : Percentage Score
The PGIMER 2020 is conducted in one single shift in CBT mode. The duration of the examination is 3 hours and the question paper has 250 questions and the 5 alternate responses for each question. The scoring in the PGIMER 2020 examination is done through a customised software which marks the correct responses and calculates the percentage on the basis of this computed formula.
Percentage score= [x/a–y/b] ×100.
STEP 2 : Percentile Score
Conversion of percentage score into percentile score is done as a further on step. These are calculated purely on the difficulty level of the question paper and the ability of the candidates. The formula used for calculating the percentile score is :
Percentile Score = [(B+(0.5×E))/N]×100
where B = number of scores below the candidate’s score,
E = number of scores equal to the candidate’s score (1 if there is no tie, and >1 if there is a tie),
and N = number of candidates appearing for exam.
