NEE 2020 postponed: North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) has postponed NEE I 2020, NEE II 2020, and NEE III 2020 which were supposed to be held on 18th and 19th April. NERIST says that exam date will be announced and admit card (supposed to release on 5th April) will be released after normal functions resume post the COVID-19 concern. NEE 2020 Postponed – Here’s the official notice
NERIST announced on 31st March that it has decided to postpone NEE I, II, III 2020 exams. With this, it joins the long list of exams that have been postponed due to coronavirus.
The notice reads
In view of the guidelines issued by the MHA Order No. 40-3/2020-D, dated: 24.03.2020 announcing a lockdown of 21 days w.e.f. 25.03.2020 for presently COVID-19 pandemic in the country, and on the advisory issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Development & Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the Competent Authority of NERIST has postponed the ensuing NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE)-2020 scheduled to be held on the 18th & 19th April 2020.
New dates will be announced later on after resuming normal functioning of the Institute. Accordingly, the Admit Cards for the Examination, which were to be issued on 5th April 2020, will now be issued later on. NERIST would keep candidates updated about the latest developments and would inform about changes with ample time.
The candidates and their parents are advised to keep visiting www.nerist.ac.in & www.neeonline.ac.in for latest updates. They are also being informed individually through their registered mobile number/ email-id. NEE 2020 Admit Card
NERIST says, at nee.ucanapply.com, “Admit Card will be available soon. We will send you notification (SMS/Email) once it is confirmed.”
Initially, the date of release of admit card was 5th April.
However, now that the exam has been postponed, therefore issuance of admit card will also be delayed. Now students will get to know by sms and email the new exam date as well as new release date for the hall tickets.
How to download admit card?
- As soon as the admit card is available, candidates must go to nerist.ac.in.
- Then click the NEE 2020 link.
- Then on next page, click sign in button.
- As soon as the sign in pop up opens, enter email address, and password then submit them to login.
- At the candidate dashboard, one can download and save the hall ticket.

Marking Scheme and Negative Marking: There are different 1-mark, and 2 mark questions. But for all questions one thing is common that for every incorrect answer, 25% of the marks to that question will be deducted.
Also note that all questions will be multiple choice questions ie objective.
NEE 2020 Exam Centres
NERIST is conducting NEE 2020 exam at 14 exam centers in 8 North Eastern states. The examination centers are as follows:

Applicant chooses 2 exam centers at the time of filling up the application form. After that, NERIST allots one of the centers as per availability.
NEE 2020 Examination Day Guidelines
On the day of exam, candidates need to bring the following things to the exam center:
- NEE 2020 admit card
- Black ball point pen
For NEE I 2020, calculator (non programmable) and log tables are not allowed. But they are allowed for NEE II, NEE II Vocational, and NEE III 2020.
Devices including mobile phone, communication gadgets are not allowed in the center at all!
Marking answers in the exam sheet : Candidates will mark answers in an OMR answer sheet. They will do that using black ball point pen only. The correct answer against each question needs to be marked.

The declaration of result of NEE 2020 exam is to be as per schedule. Result is announced at nerist.ac.in or neeonline.ac.in. Candidates must be ready with their sign in details including email address and password in order to check their result. Also note that relevant result information is also available with the Directorates of Higher & Technical Education of the North Eastern States.
NEE 2020 Cut Off
NERIST says that there will be cut off marks for selection of candidates on the basis of NERIST Entrance Examination. Besides this, more information will be provided at the time of counselling.
NEE 2020 Counselling
Counselling for NEE 2020 exam is also time bound. All dates of counselling are notified at nerist.ac.in.
NERIST publishes names of selected, and wait-listed candidates at nerist.ac.in. From there, they can also check the date and time on which they have to attend counselling.
Candidates need to download their NEE 2020 counselling call letter from nerist.ac.in when this happens.
Then at the time of counselling, they have to show their original documents and certificates, as well as the attested copies.

NEE I is for class 10 passed or appeared students. It is for admission to Base Module Certificate programs. It will lead to admission to 200 + 20 seats (EWS as per GOI norms).
NEE II is for class 12 (PCM) passed or appeared, class 12 (Voc) / ITI / NERIST Certificate in AE / CE / ECE / EE / ME students. It is for admission to B.Tech programs. It will lead to admission to 70 + 7 seats (EWS as per GOI norms).
There is another NEE II for class 12 (PCB) passed or appeared students. It is for admission to B.Sc in Forestry programs. It will lead to admission to 30 + 3seats (EWS as per GOI norms).
NEE III is for 3 yr Diploma in relevant branch of Engg and Tech passed or appeared students. It is for admission to B.Tech Lateral Entry programs. It will lead to admission to 72 + 7 seats (EWS as per GOI norms).
Note that NERIST will fill 80 + 8 seats through JEE counselling of JOSAA 2020. If any seats remain in this matrix then they will fill them through NEE II 2020.
About North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology
NERIST was founded in the year 1983. It is located in the foot-hills of the Eastern Himalayas, at Nirjuli (Itanagar) in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh on National Highway 415 (NH 415).
Academics in NERIST: In NERIST there are 12 departments that award degree. This includes the Center for Management Studies. NERIST offers bachelors degree in 6 engineering disciplines ie Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering; and 1 in Forestry. Fee Structure at NERIST
The eight North Eastern states are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
Reservation of Seats
There are these following different quotas.
- State–quota: For candidates who belong to any of the Eight North Eastern States.
- All India-quota: For candidates who belong to any of the States of India.
- PD-quota: For candidates with 40 to 75% Physical loco-motor Disability (PD) belonging to any of the States of India.
- EWS: Reservation for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) as per the guidelines of GoI .
Reservation in NEE 2020 works as follows:
- There is 80% reservation for candidates of the 8 North Eastern States ie 10% for each state as state-quota.
- Then there is 7% reservation in seats for Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) holders of these 8 North Eastern States on merit basis.
- And 10% reservation exists for candidates who come under the All India-quota.
- Then 3% reservation is there for Physical locomotor Disabled (PD) persons under PD-quota.
Special privileges for wards of Kashmiri Migrants and Kashmiri Pandit/Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants) living in Kashmir Valley for admission in Higher Educational Institutions as per the directions of GoI, Ministry of HRD :
- They get relaxation in cut-off percentage upto 10% subject to minimum eligibility requirement.
- There is an increase in intake capacity upto 5% course wise.
- At least 1 seat merit quota in technical /professional institutions is reserved.
- Waiving off domicile requirements for Kashmiri Migrants only.
- Kashmiri Pandits /Kashmiri Hindu Family(Non-Migrants)living in Kashmiri Valley need domicile certificate .
