ABSTRACT FROM POLICE REPORT
On the night of 10 / 11.04.2010, it has come to notice that Priyanshu Meena (a student of 1st Year and non-hostler) resident of Pant Nagar, Jangpura picked up a dispute with one Bharat Bhushan r/o Mathura (presently a hostler) while returning from a Fashion Fest around 3 AM in the area of Safdarjung. It has come to notice that the Fashion Fest had limited entry where Priyanshu Meena was holding an Invite while Bharat Bhushan was outside in the waiting. Thereafter, Priyanshu Meena along with his friends Pawan and Vishal went for a dinner at Comesum which is situated at the parking of H.N. Din Railway Station. According to Priyanshu Meena, Bharat Bhushan along with 6-7 boys had heated arguments and a PCR call was also made by friends of Priyanshu who left soon after while Priyanshu was taken for medical examination. A complaint to this effect was received at PS H.N. Din who are looking into the matter.
On the night of 20 / 21.04.2010 at about 11:30, Priyanshu Meena along with his associates namely Shailesh Kumar Meena, Pankaj Meena, Pawan, Sher Singh and others were present outside D.T.U. near the Dhaba. Mirza Faraz Alam, Nimish and Ankit Mittal walked out of the Dhaba and sat in the Car No. DL-4C-A-J-9203 make I-10, and Navendu followed them on his motorbike on their way to enter DTU. They were intercepted by the Priyanshu and his associates who were allegedly equipped with baseball bats and sticks etc. They smashed the car and the motor cycle while the boys in the car and bike ran towards the hostel. On seeing this, Priyanshu and his associates left the spot. A case had been registered in PS Shahbad Dairy.
It is worthwhile to mention that apparently there has been no direct link of these inter-group fights and the on going agitation at the DTU Campus. Further, on going through the sequence of events, it is important to mention that both the groups are showing sheer desperation in settling their personal grudges by taking law into their own hands. They are tracking each others locations and assaulting each other in an organized manner.
In the respective complaints filed with the Police upon which various Firs had been lodged, no one had mentioned the involvements of DTU authorities. It has also been learned that an enquiry into these events is also been conducted by the ADM / Kanjhawla.
Mail to VC, Delhi University by students
Issue : New HODs of DTU
As agreed as per student demands presented through registrar DTU, it was agreed to changes HODs who have completed 3 years through rotations from professors in the dept.
Accordingly the new HODs for depts where HODS completed 3 years have been appointed yesterday. Dr. A Trivedi could not be made HOD civil of DTU as he is HOD of 7 depts. ME, EC, CE, MPA, IT, Bio Tech and Applied Sciences of DU and also dean FOT of DU.
How could he be given yet another headship of DTU? Next in line prof AK Gupta appointed HOD civil, the new HODs of DTU as per orders issued on 15th April are in ME, EC, CE and EE.
Someone should ask DU Vice Chancellor, how 7 headships are grabbed by Dr. A Trivadi?
As for T & P Dt. SK Garg has not completed even two years and his change was not demanded as placements this year have been pretty good with 100 companies recruited from DTU.
DTU impasse finally ends today
It is official now- the Delhi Technological University (DTU) students have finally ended the protest, bringing back the normalcy to the campus from today.
Nitin Baraiya, a student and placement coordinator at DTU said that, "Discussions with the newly appointed registrar and the student representatives took place in detail after which they have decided to end their protest on the assurance that the demands to meet the academic, administrative growth and improvement in quality of education are met. We also are grateful to the state government for providing the post of registrar on the campus."
He further added that, "As the government has taken steps to met our demands, so we have decided to end the protest but we do plan to carry out a symbolic protest for the central character of DCE."
DTU agitation – Doubts on the issue..
After weeks of protesting against DCE's conversion to DTU, a lot of questions have been raised by the student community. It will be helpful if the rightful people answer these promptly.

Agitating Delhi Technical University (DTU) students were today joined by their parents who said setting up of an independent committee to look into the "genuine" demands can be a way out of this impasse. The DTU students are protesting against the state university status being given to the institute. The students along with their parents, numbering nearly 500, gathered at Jantar Mantar and raised slogans against Vice Chancellor P B Sharma demanding reconversion of DTU to Delhi College of Engineering.
“Q. What is the use of raising slogans against VC Prof. P.Sharma? He cannot covert DTU back to DCE, it’s a government decision.”
"We have gathered here to rally behind our children who are protesting over some genuine demands. This is a peaceful demonstration and we want the VC to resign and allow the process to move forward," Vandana Singh, mother of a third year student, told PTI.
“Q. How can you be sure that after resignation the process will move forward? And it seems your major demand is removal of VC and no other demands are so important.”
The protesters also lit candles and sought intervention of senior Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi into the matter.
“Q. The negative publicity so far has already degraded the reputation of our university. All this time we ignored the dark side of the protest. Is it not time we returned to books and labs rather than make the streets our home?”
DTU Talks with parents remain Inconclusive.
On Saturday, the Delhi Technological University (DTU) administration made yet another attempt to resolve the ongoing agitation on campus. This time, parents of agitating students were invited for talks with the Vice Chancellor (VC) and the university's Board of Management. But the meeting like previous attempts could not produce any positive results.
Parents, instead, used the opportunity to join in the students' demand for removal of VC PB Sharma and restoration of DTU as an affiliated college of Delhi University. The two demands have been earlier shot down by the state university in July Last Year, after a bill was passed in the Legislative assembly.
"Why were peaceful protestors beaten up by police at India Gate? We have now decided to pretest at India Gate on Sunday" said PK Gupta, another parent. The meeting, which lasted over three hours, ended on an inconclusive note.

Delhi govt steps in to resolve DTU deadlock
The Delhi government has now stepped in to defuse the crisis in the Delhi Technical University (DTU), which is on the boil over its new found state university status. Students are protesting the new status of Delhi Engineering College as a state university with the name Delhi Technical University. Their protests entered the 13th day on Tuesday with students even boycotting examinations.
"Only about 80 out of the total 3,000 students sat for yesterday's exam. The university is working out a strategy with students to hammer out a solution. And we are hopeful of finding an early solution," said a varsity official. Sources said officials from the Delhi government have stepped in to find an early solution. "Officials from the state government, DTU and agitating students are holding discussions to find out a solution," they said.
A meeting called by University Vice-Chancellor P B Sharma yesterday had ended without any compromise as the students stuck to their stand of negotiating only with the Delhi government, which passed the DTU Bill.
